Shiny New Things

Hello, each and everyone!

Lately I've been shopping quite a lot. I've been trying to update my everyday wardrobe towards more office friendly and less student like direction. Besides that, I've also started collecting My Little Ponies again.

1. A dress with a tulip pattern by Ivana Helsinki and seriously shiny necklaces by Kooky Gems. I'm planning to wear the cloud necklace to cheer up the rainy days. The bunny necklace doesn't need to happen for a reason - I love everything with bunnies on it, period. (There will certainly be pictures of the dress worn later!)

2. Lace collar dresses from Dorothy Perkins. These are super comfy to wear, and also cute. I really like the colours.

3. A blouse with lace details, sunglasses for me and my fiancé and a cute umbrella for autumn.

4. A flamingo bag charm. I don't even know why. It's crazy, funny and pink, I guess that's the reason. Right now this actually hangs on my ugly work laptop bag and makes it just a bit more tolerable, so it found its rightful place.

7. My souvenirs from Paris. I had told my fiancé that I'll buy all the Eiffel tower themed tourist crap there is and only bought these two, so everything went better than expected. No regrets either, I really like these.

8. More souvenirs from Paris. Ladurée Melangé and Marie Antoinette teas by Ladurée. The caddies are so adorable and they taste delicious. ♥

The Colours of Autumn

Hello, lords and ladies!

This was my outfit to the J-fashion Fair. I found the inspiration from autumn which had just begun here in Helsinki. Autumn is my favourite season and I'm always very excited about it. I had a bad outfit crisis just before the event. Eventually I came up with this one and was very happy about it. I think this might be my favourite outfit of the ones I've worn recently.

{Dress - Jane Marple / blouse, roses - H&M, Ninja / jewelry - Kalevala Jewelry / bag - second hand}

The event was quite nice. Everything was well organized and there wasn't too much program, so there was plenty of time to chat with friends and shop, which was great.

I purchased this embroidered OP by Innocent World...

... and this gorgeous OP of black velvet and white lace by Fairy Wish. I'll show them to you more properly as soon as I get to wear them! I can't wait for that - I especially adore the Fairy Wish dress. *-*

I also bought shoes fit for Cinderella. They are so sparkly. ♥

Starshine Fades in The Sunlight

Hi, everyone!

I drew this birthday card for my friend yesterday. She loves and collects MLP passionately, so MLP it is in the card also.

Because of reasons (= my limited selection of colours and the mysterious dissapearance of my best black pen) my version of Starshine looks like her colours faded in the sun. I'm really rusty with drawing cesause I do it way too seldom, so the pony is not that good, but I really like how the colours turned out.

Here's the real Starshine in comparison, her colours are brighter. (My real Starshine has faded in the sun, too, so her colours should be even brighter than this, actually.)

P.S. I'm trying to tag all my paintings and drawings with a tag "art". This does not mean that I consider myself to be an artist, or that I think my scribblings are even that good. I just use "art" in the want of a better word, so that my readers can easily find all my drawings here, should they wish to. :P

Brown x Beige

Hello hello, everyone!

Today me and my bf went to The Ounce, because we needed desperately more black tea. It's -12 degrees here so we consume rather a lot of black tea nowadays.

Of course going to The Ounce is always a good excuse to wear lolita, and so I did! We also had some tea there, and run into Tiia, who then joined us to have some more tea together.

Yesterday I wasn't planning to wear this dress at all, but since it was so cold, I quickly came up with this outfit. Next time that I actually plan to wear this, I shall iron it. Today I had no time for that. And this dress, it gets wrinkly if you just look at its way! But besides that, I think this dress might become one of my favorite dresses in the long run... it doesn't seem very versatile, but it is so easy to just throw on (provided that one has ironed it in advance) and it does match with quite many of my shoes.

 

A proof that my boots (and stockings and the waist ribbon, too) were actually dark brown, not black.

And darling Susanna gave me Mommy Sweet Celebrations (on the left, that's Daddy SC on the right) as a belated Birthday present! Thank you so much, Susanna! I love love loove it! I'm trying to collect the Sweet Celebrations family and now I only need the two fillies and it is complete, yay!

Crown of Roses

Today I went to Lahti to celebrate Mimi's birthday. We went to a quite nice Italian restaurant, the food was really good there.

I was in a hurry this morning (actually missed my bus) so my outfit isn't quite perfect. On later thoughts I should have worn dark brown socks, because of course it rained in Lahti and now these ones are ruined. By the way my boots are chocolate brown, it was really dark day so the pictures are not that good.

My nails, gold base and dark brown graffiti nail polish. 

And closeup of my hairdo. I really like how it turned out! I'll definitely wear it again in the Summer.

And I got this G3 Wind Drifter as a belated birthday gift from Kata! The pose is ankward but the pony itself is absolutely darling. I love those colors and 3D symbol. ♥

Second Hand Findings

Today I went for second hand treasure hunt - haven't been doing this in a long time, but now I was very lucky to do great finds!

I found this awesome, vintage style poster made of metal. It's going to our living room. It matches perfectly with our sofa.  ♥

Also, four My Little Ponies from generation 3 - my second favorite generation. They need some serious brushing (and in some cases, washing) but after that they'll be just lovely!

And finally, these wonderful teacups! There's six of them in total, and now I finally have teacups in the actual teacup size. It is incredibly hard to find second hand tea cups in Finland, because most Finns prefer coffee. So all the second hand markets are filled with coffeecups. These are from 70's, made in the Soviet Union - usually they are awfully expensive, but now I got the whole set with 30 euros. (And I mean " here's one teapot, I ask 130 euros of it" -expensive. That happened just today!) So I am pleased.

Of Ponies and Lolis

I have a scandalous confession to make. I like My Little Ponies and I like lolita fashion. I have watched (and will continue to watch) every single episode of Friendship is Magic. I started collecting My Little Ponies from all generations years ago. There, now it’s said. And now you can jugde me all you want, right? Well, no.

Watching Friendship is Magic or collecting Ponies doesn’t make one childish. To me, watching Friendship is Magic is far less childish than making anonymous secrets or comments about someone who likes to watch it. Let’s face it: as lolitas we wear dresses and headbows and jewellery that are completely weird to most of the people out there. Actually collecting Ponies could be considered far less weird by society.

Frankly, I just can’t understand all the hatred towards those (lolitas and non-lolitas) who like Ponies lately. I like lolita and I like Ponies, but these are just two of my many hobbies and to me they have nothing in common – though if I could get my hands on a lolita dress with MLP print on it I would purchase it, wear it and look fabulous while doing so.

Does liking My Little Ponies make me a worse lolita, or a worse human being? With this logic, my other non-lolita hobbies such as painting, writing, drawing and reading books should make me a worse lolita too, right? It just doesn’t work that way. I hope that Pony haters can realize that no matter what your other hobbies are – be they MLP-related, or thai boxing, or football, or anime, or manga, or collecting stamps – you can still like lolita, too, and be amazing at it.

Lolitas get so much negative attention as it is. You all know it; I bet every loli here has been laughed at, pointed at or yelled nasty things at while simply walking down the city streets minding their own business. So why must lolitas start attacking each other as well? We should rather stick together and fight the prejudices, not create more of them.

Let all lolis have all the hobbies they want. Don’t take it so seriously if someone likes something that you don’t. :)

And in the end, have some Ponies and a bunny.

Innocent World

Uusi mekko! ♥ Olen jo pitempään halunnut mekon, jossa on makea printti. Tahdoin sen kuitenkin tummalla pohjalla, jotten näyttäisi hammassärkyä aiheuttavan imelältä, kävelevältä kakkukaupalta. Tämä on siis suorastaan täydellinen! Tumma tausta korostaa näyttävää printtiä, ja toisaalta myös rauhoittaa sen levottomuutta. Kuvassa muuten mm. mummini kutoma matto, jonka sain ylioppilaslahjaksi mummini kehittämän perinteen mukaan. Eikö ole aika ihana, ja taatusti uniikki! :D

Mekon yläosa. Sopivasti yksityiskohtia, muttei kuitenkaan liian täyteen ahdettu - näin näyttävän printin kanssa onkin syytä jättää röyhelöt vähemmälle.

Ja mekon helma, sopivan pitsinen mutta silti yksinkertainen sekin.

Ja tähän mekkoon (sekä moneen muuhunkin!) mätsäävä rusetti. Rarity suostui ystävällisesti mallaamaan sitä. :D Tämä rusetti on mielestäni kiva juuri siksi, ettei se ole valtava päänsyöjä. Rusetti ei muuten ole IHAN niin pieni kuin kuva ehkä antaa ymmärtää, sillä Rarity on ~todella~ iso My Little Pony. Tykkään isoistakin ruseteista tiettyyn rajaan asti, mutta viimeaikoina olen alkanut kaivat tyyliini hillitympää suuntaa, eleganssia, you name it. Lisää pisteitä tulee siitä, että rusetti on tarpeeksi pieni käytettäväksi myös arkena. Olen jo käyttänyt sitä farkut, korkkarit ja söpö paita -yhdistelmän kaverina.
