Earth Tones*

*A nice way of saying brown. (What on earth are you wearing? A Michipedia of Fashion by Michi Girl)

Hello, everyone! Today I visited The Ounce with Hanna-Katariina. I wore classic lolita, suffered from a very bad hair day and it feels like I'm getting a flu, but other than that it was a fun day. :D

I couldn't attend Kata's housewarming party, because I was sick on that day also. So I visited her place yesterday and gave her this selfmade card. I can't draw cats but it seems I can cut them out of funny paper allright.

Lolita Blog Carnival: Historical Inspired Coordinates

Good evening, lords and ladies!

I decided to participate in this week's Lolita Blog Carnival by introducing some of my previous, more ore less historically inspired coordinates because I'm too lazy to do any new ones right now. I've always loved the historical influence lolita has, the OTT sweet was never quite my thing.

My favourite era to draw inspiration from is Rococo - how could it not be with its ridiculous opulence and luxury? Baby's Marie Antoinette OP is of course in itself very Rococo-esque. It's a dress one simply can not wear casually, and therefore I don't get to wear it that often. But when I do, I feel really special, like I just started wearing lolita and it feels all new, fresh and ecxiting. There's a love at first sight feeling to this dress that's yet to fade. It's one of my dreamdresses. ♥

The French Revolution isn't really my thing, as I'm a royalist by heart, but I have to admit I really like their colours. I wore this outfit to Mimi's bachlorette party, which had a French Revolution theme. Of course the chemise type dress seen here (and handmade by Mimi), also worn by the revolutionists, was originally made fashionable by none other than Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France. I've always loved the irony in that.

Deary me, this one is so old! But this Angelic Pretty's dress also has some Rococo influence on the upper part, and that's why I purchased it. I really like this dress but don't wear it that often, because it's quite uncomfortable to be in. Shame, really.

For this outfit, I wanted to get Vintage-like feeling with the hat and the classical pumps. The dress (handmade by Mimi) also has historical inspirations; the unicorn print is from a Medieval tapestry, and the fabric choises and the golden embroidery on the shoulder straps were inspired by British Renaissance.

This Victorian Maiden's OP clearly has some Victorian vibes. The laceup boots add to it.

So, those were some examples of how I like to bring historical inspiration to my outfits. What is your favourite era to draw inspiration from? Or are you not that interested in history at all? Do share your thoughts in the comments!

Silly Shades

Good afternoon, everyone!

Today we made a quick visit to The Ounce with my boyfriend. I wanted to wear lolita, but my Official Lolita Coat (TM) is not home at the moment (I borrowed it for my friend to be worn at a fancy party with her fancy evening gown) so I wore a dress with shorter and smaller hem, as it goes well with ordinary coats also.

The Ordinary Coat (TM). It's also very sunny outside (hard to believe from these pictures, but it really is!) so I got to wear my silly heart shaped glasses, yay!

Chjoko's Chocolate Brunch

Hello, everyone!

Today one of my dearest friends took me to Chjoko's chocolate brunch, as she had promised at my birthday party. We just only got to it now, some four months later. :P

I really like to wear that mint green purse with this red coat, they have such a lovely contrast. Othervice nothing special about this outfit, the key words being "very" and "comfy".

It was also sunny for a change. Very nice, that. *-*

Lolita Blog Carnival: A Casual Coordinate for a Quiet Day

Good evening, lords and ladies!

Today's Lolita Blog Carnival theme was a casual coordinate for a quiet day, and since I knew my day would be quite relaxed, I decided to participate. I'm very happy that this time I could participate by actually wearing my coordinate. :3

So what have I been up to today? Well, me, boyfriend and two of my friends went to Forsman Tea Shop. It's the biggest tea shop in Scandinavia, and I really like it, but when visiting it's best to have a car because it's in a quite remote factory area. So we don't go that often, but when we do, we buy a whole lotta tea! We also bought cocoa and some treats. (I took some photos in the tea shop and am now considering if I should do a separate post for them... anyone interested in seeing them?)

And then I've been reading nonsense to relax after all the exams and deadlines in school.

Helsinki Lolita Convention 2014: The Fairy Forest Fashion Show

Hello, my lords and ladies!

It's been so long since Hellocon, but the videos and pictures have only been recently published, so I'll post about it now. I've been especially waiting to see our own fashion show's, The Fairy Forest's, official video, which my dear friend filmed for us. This fashion show takes place in the forest of fairytales, and the outfits are inspired by classical folk tales and Eastern Europe. I organized the show with Hanna and Anna. I know there are some things that need improvement, but all in all, I'm so proud of this show and all the models who worked so hard to make it happen. ♥

The official video:

And then the same in pictures. First, Mimi as The Evil Queen.

Kata as Snow White.

Hanna as The Little Red Riding Hood.

Anna as The Matryoshka Doll.

Katariina as The Desperate Prince and Sari as The Ecoistic Princess.

Me as The Golden Unicorn.

Ilona as The Owl.

Susanna as The Swan Princess and victim to the cursed apple.

In this picture, you can also see a glimpse Kati of as The Fox (the second from left), and of Satu, who was The Rescuing Knight (the first from right).

P.S. The Eastern Europe inspiration may not be so visible in all of the outfits - of course there is no such influence in all of them, since the theme was fairytales also, but e.g. Satu is wearing black, white and gold; the colours of Romanov family crest. ;)

Lilac Roses

Good evening, lords and ladies!

It's still International Women's Day for about an hour, so happy Women's Day to all of you lovely ladies! ♥

To celebrate the IWD, my boyfriend and I went to The Ounce and I got an excuse to doll myself up.

My shoes and stockings are actually dark brown, not black... (again.)

I really like this dress, the print has more rare colours; mossy green and shades of lilac.

Couple of days ago I bought this smoky eyes set from H&M and did my makeup with these today. Last time I bought eyeshadows from H&M they were surprisingly good - well, that was years ago, and these are not so marvellous. I really love the colours, but the intensity is not good enough and they make an awful lot of mess while applying them. So, all in all, these are not for everyday use, but if one has lots of time to do one's makeup, then these are useable. :P

Bf was also so kind and bought me one tea box more as IWD gift! Now I have four of these in total. They are really pretty and you can see the tea through the box, which is nice because many teas look very beautiful.

My friend's lil' miss Pom the Papillon has been staying with us since Wednesday. We've been enjoying nice long walks together.
